  • The narrow gauge railway is coming to Slaggyford and May 3rd 2014 saw the official "sod cutting" ceremony to mark the commencement of the works - see the photographs of the dignitories at Alston station, joining their "chara" to Slaggyford station nd Lord Inglewood cutting the first sod on the "Gallery" page.



  • The Kirkstyle has been awarded a "Certificate of Excellence" by TripAdvisor. These annual awards are made only to establishments that consistently achieve the highest levels of customer satisfaction by TripAdvisor reviewers. To be granted one of these awards is to be in the top 10% of the global hospitality industry for customer satisfaction!


  • From summer 2012 the narrow gauge railway from Alston was extended to Lintley, which is within walking distance (2.2 miles) of The Kirkstyle Inn. Visitors can now plan their train trip to include lunch at the Kirkstyle and for those who are exhusted by the walk to lunch, there is usually transport available to get them back for their return train.
